Hi, I am Marina.

I am a full-time hair stylist, precision cutting educator, salon owner, and mom of two boys. I created the Cooboard in 2018 — not in a boardroom, not with a team of product developers, but during my maternity leave with my first son, because I could not stop thinking about a problem I had been struggling with behind the chair for years.

I am a precision stylist. Clean lines, neat work, and consistent results are everything to me. So when I started doing teasy lights, I was frustrated. Keeping the tease controlled and in place — especially on straight, fine hair — felt impossible. No matter how carefully I worked, my application felt messy and inconsistent. I knew the technique was beautiful but something was missing.

So I started problem-solving. I needed something to hold the tease flat against the scalp so I could paint with both hands, get closer to the root, and actually control my placement. Nothing like that existed. So I made it myself.

That was the Cooboard.

I had no idea what would happen next. I was just a stylist trying to solve my own problem. But when I started sharing it with other colorists, the reaction stopped me in my tracks. The thing I heard most — and still hear today — is:

"Where has the Cooboard been all my life?"

Stylists tell me their application is faster. Their work is cleaner. Their teasy lights are more consistent than ever before. And honestly, hearing that never gets old — because that is exactly how I felt the first time it worked for me.

I want you to know something important. Cooboard is not a big brand that does not know your name. I am not sitting in a corporate office somewhere disconnected from what it actually feels like to be behind the chair all day. I am right there with you — still doing hair, still teaching, still learning, and still obsessing over tools that make our work better.

I built Cooboard for stylists like me. People who care deeply about their craft, who want clean and precise results, and who appreciate a tool that was created by someone who actually uses it.
